Separate the two objects
The domain name and the certificate used for an HTTPS connection are different parts of a website’s operation. An owner may see both managed through a familiar provider, but that does not make them the same renewal task. Give each one a separate row in the operating record. The row should identify the responsible person and the place where they verify current status, without storing passwords or sensitive account information in a public document.
Use reminders as prompts to verify
UptimeRobot documents certificate and domain-expiration notifications. Their role is to draw attention to an approaching condition; receiving a reminder does not prove a renewal has happened, and silence does not establish that a reminder was configured correctly. Check current plan inclusion and the relevant provider record. Do not rely on a generic monitoring page as the authority for payment, registration ownership or the exact terms of a renewal contract.
A fictional split responsibility
An independent shop’s domain may be controlled by its owner while the web maintainer manages the certificate. Sending every reminder only to the maintainer could leave the registration task unresolved. Sending everything only to the owner could create a different delay if they cannot change the certificate setup. Record who investigates, who can authorize any necessary action and who confirms the result, rather than assuming a shared inbox creates shared responsibility.
Close the loop with evidence
After an authorized renewal or configuration change, verify the relevant current state and update the reminder record. Keep the notification date separate from the completion date. This guide does not prescribe a technical certificate replacement procedure or tell you to ignore browser security warnings. If the site displays a security warning, involve the responsible operator and preserve the warning details; a green availability response is not permission to bypass it.
