Last reviewed 7 October 2026

Quick answerYes: UptimeRobot s.r.o. of Bratislava runs it, publishes its Terms, takes cards through Stripe and lets you start on a Free plan. Pick Uptime Kuma if you would rather keep monitoring on your own server.

Is UptimeRobot legit? Who runs it

Yes. UptimeRobot s.r.o., a company in Bratislava, runs UptimeRobot, and its published Terms fall under the laws of the Slovak Republic. The Free plan is $0, and Solo, the first paid plan, is $13 a month billed monthly for 10 monitors, from UptimeRobot's US pricing page as captured on September 29, 2026. Is UptimeRobot safe to sign up for?

UptimeRobot says it is SOC 2 compliant and makes the report available on request through a sales demo. On GDPR, its pricing FAQ answers yes and points to a Data Processing Addendum. It says it does not store credit card data, and card payments run through Stripe. Two-factor authentication is on every plan, Free included. See the UptimeRobot review for each plan.

Is UptimeRobot reliable? False alarms and alert noise

UptimeRobot says it runs its own status page and emails a post-mortem to affected users after a severe global issue. UptimeRobot's home page says it rechecks failures across multiple checker nodes and locations before opening an incident. Its help center says each check runs from one region and the confirming re-checks run in that same region, so we do not say how many locations agree before an alert.

A server that rejects HEAD requests, the default for HTTP monitors, fails every retry until the method is switched to GET. Blocking UptimeRobot's checking IPs at a firewall, WAF or CDN can also show as down while the site loads for you. A keyword monitor reads raw HTML, so UptimeRobot advises searching View Page Source for the word first.

Refunds and canceling

UptimeRobot advertises a 14-day money-back guarantee on new subscriptions and upgrades, which you request from support within 14 days of payment, while its Terms say the right to withdraw does not apply once you have started using the paid service with your consent. This guide does not say which one governs a given refund.

After the Withdrawal Period, the Terms say prepaid fees are not refunded, though refunds or service credits for unused paid service may be granted at UptimeRobot's sole discretion. You cancel by turning off auto-renewal; the plan runs to the end of its billing cycle, then the account moves to the Free plan.

Ratings UptimeRobot quotes

UptimeRobot says it holds 4.7 stars out of 5 from 284+ reviews. Its pricing page text does not name the review site beside those figures, so this page gives no rating of its own. Its landing page also quotes two different user totals.

Who should start on UptimeRobot, and who should pick Uptime Kuma or Pingdom

A cautious buyer can test UptimeRobot on the Free plan, which UptimeRobot words as "No credit card required", before paying for anything.

  • Uptime Kuma to keep monitoring on your own server. It is free, open-source software under the MIT license, and you run it yourself with Docker or Node.js and install its updates by hand, so its cost is a server and your time. See UptimeRobot vs Uptime Kuma.
  • Pingdom for a free trial that includes its synthetic and real user monitoring; its pricing page shows no free plan and no trial length.
