Free plans: 50 monitors or 1-minute checks

HetrixTools' Free plan is "$0 forever": 15 uptime monitors and 15 server monitors, 4 of its 12 locations and checks every minute, as on every plan. Its page also says you log in every 90 days. UptimeRobot's Free plan is 50 monitors at a 5-minute interval, with "No credit card required".

HetrixTools includes email notifications on every plan, though its Free plan does not include multiple email recipients. SSL, domain expiry and status pages

HetrixTools lists SSL validity and expiration, domain expiration, nameserver changes and status pages as included on every plan. On UptimeRobot, SSL and domain-expiry reminders are paid, on Solo, Team and Scale, and the Free plan has 1 status page on an UptimeRobot address; an own-domain status page starts on Solo. The SSL certificate monitoring tools page compares more services on expiry alerts.

Trials, refund terms and who should pick which

HetrixTools' pricing page shows no trial and no money-back terms. UptimeRobot has no trial of a paid plan and advertises a 14-day money-back guarantee on new subscriptions and upgrades, requested from support within 14 days of payment; its Terms add that withdrawal does not apply once you have started using the paid service with your consent.

  • HetrixTools for 1-minute uptime checks plus SSL and domain-expiry alerts at no cost, accepting 15 monitors and a login every 90 days.
